Competitive Examination for Promotion of Grade I Officers to Special Grade – 2024 (2026)
Applications are invited for the Competitive Examination for Promotion of Officers in Grade I of the Sri Lanka Technological Service to Special Grade – 2024 (2026). Eligible Grade I officers can submit their applications online through the Department of Examinations.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must have satisfied the required qualifications by 31 December 2024.
- Must be an officer in Grade I of the Sri Lanka Technological Service under the Supervisory Management Assistant Technical Service category.
- Must have completed at least five years of active and satisfactory service in Grade I.
- Must have earned the five prescribed salary increments.
- Must not have received a disciplinary punishment under the provisions of Public Service Commission Circular No. 01/2020.
- Must have passed the Third Efficiency Bar Examination.
Salary Scale
The salary scale will apply from 1 January 2027, subject to the applicable public administration circular.

Aptitude Test
The Aptitude Test consists of 50 multiple-choice and short-answer questions designed to assess the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to perform assigned duties efficiently.

Examination Medium
The examination may be answered in Sinhala, Tamil or English. Applicants must answer all question papers in the same selected language medium. The selected medium cannot be changed after submitting the application.

Examination fees will not be refunded or transferred to another examination after payment.
How to Apply Online
- Download and read the official application instructions.
- Visit the Department of Examinations online application portal.
- Select the Sri Lanka Technological Service Special Grade Examination.
- Complete the application in English and provide accurate information.
- Pay the examination fee of Rs. 600 through an accepted payment method.
- Submit the application and retain the confirmation message and printed copy.
- Submit a copy of the application to the head of the institution for inclusion in the personal file.
