Professional Qualifications
Qualification Route 01
Applicants must possess a recognized basic or postgraduate degree containing at least one of the following subjects as a major subject:
- Statistics
- Mathematics
- Economics
- Community Science or Population Studies
- Computer Science or Information Technology
- Geography, Sociology or Cartography
Applicants must also have completed at least five years of continuous, active and satisfactory service as a Statistical Officer or Statistical Investigator and passed the First Efficiency Bar Examination.
Qualification Route 02
Applicants without the specified degree must have completed at least 10 years of continuous, active and satisfactory service as a Statistical Officer or Statistical Investigator and passed the First Efficiency Bar Examination.
Other Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Must possess an excellent character.
- Must be physically fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- Must have completed a satisfactory service period during the immediately preceding five years.
- All required qualifications must be completed by the application closing date.
- No maximum age limit is applicable.

The syllabus includes basic statistics, data sources, methods of data collection, problems arising during data collection, presentation of data, descriptive statistics, interpretation of statistics, data analysis and basic index numbers.
Examination Fee

The examination fee can be paid using a bank credit card, internet-enabled debit card, Bank of Ceylon online banking or Flex App, or through a Bank of Ceylon branch.
